It is not all that unusual that Jews serves as a means of communication between Muslims and Christians. Jews were traditionally viewed as neutral in various rivalries and intrigues there were between Islamic countries and European Christian countries.

Even the Arab Israeli dispute serves in an way as a form of communication between European countries and the Arab Muslim states.

I think it would be unfortunate if Jews in Great Britain get drawn into the middle of what is, at this point, a pretty nasty bit of politics related to the status of Muslims in Great Britain. No matter what happens in that dispute, there will be resentment by one or both sides.
