Shame on the Pope as Lent draws nearer

On Shrove Tuesday, has the Pope really been shriven of his sins?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/news_and_events/events_pancakeday.shtml

Probably not. He's chosen today to bring back the prayer for the enlightenment of the Jews, so that we recognise the divinity of Jesus Christ and become saved.

A rather unfortunate time to be making this request, with the suicide bombings in Dimona only one day old, not to mention Catholic dissatisfaction with visa arrangements for clergy entering the country from enemy countries, such as Syria and Lebanon.

Just to drive the point home, this is what I received this morning from someone in Germany:

By the way, how do you feel about the situation at the border with Egypt and about the Iranian threat? I read that the alert level in Israel has been raised to ā€žCā€œ.  Does this mean you are staying at home most of the time?

In the course of the day, when my friend and I returned from looking for a toy toucan for my friend's grandson, aged six (no doubt because his Primary School has just been voted the very best primary school in England - and no, it's not in affluent Alderley Edge, but in working class Swinton, Salford !!);

I received a phone call out of the blue from an academic who works at one of the best universities in Britain. He can't take the antisemitic atmosphere in British universities any more and is emigrating.

After that, this blog reported that the Queen will be celebrating the 60th birthday of Israel at Windsor Castle:

Then, I received a request from The Times for a comment on the Pope's latest meshugass, which was sent me in the original Latin, as well as in translation. And both ways, it was very shocking indeed:

and comments from the Council of Christians and Jews here:

There was also the request for a comment on a story from the Church of England Newspaper.

But most astonishing of all was a positive comment posted on yesterday's blog about Haifa University by a group called Muslims against Sharia:

They actually apologized for yesterday's suicide bomb attack in Dimona.

Strange times when the Catholic Church, the church which till now has been closest to the Jewish community, betrays us, whilst some Muslims at least seem to understand the Jewish people better than we do ourselves.

Yes, it's definitely time for sackcloth and ashes:

Yes, a funny old day. Enjoy the carnival -while you can

Muslims Against Sharia condemn the murderers responsible for the homicide bombing in Dimona as well as degenerate perpetuation of the culture of death in Gaza.

Our prayers are with the victims of this atrocity. We send our condolences to their loved ones.

May the homicide bomber rot in hell for eternity. May his accomplices and animals who celebrated this horrendous act join him soon!
