Was at a meeting in Nahariya today.
This is the town that was hit very badly by the Hezbollah katyushas last summer.
And the birth-place of Ehud Goldwasser, one of Israel's recently kidnapped soldiers:
We managed to take the bus lane as there were four in a car. And just before Nahariya, we passed the Ghetto Fighters Kibbutz.
To me Nahariya seemed like a miniature Nice in the good old days before Nice was over-developed - judging by my mother's descriptions of it from decades ago. A really welcoming sea-side resort, Israeli style.
At 11.00 prompt the siren went and we were already stationed outside to watch what happened. A car stopped suddenly in the middle of the road - it's owner jumped out, left the door open and then after the two minutes were over - jumped in again and was off.
On the way back, through the very very sticky Sharav weather (Nahariyah being a much hotter place than Haifa), we noticed a stream of cars making for the opposite direction. The start of the Yom Ha'atzmaut holidays.
And everywhere was covered in bunting and Israeli flags.
And I just remembered that today is also St. George's Day.
